BAZAAR

"Bazaar" is a Bollywood film released in 1982, directed by Sagar Sarhadi. The movie stars Smita Patil, Farooq Shaikh, Supriya Pathak, Naseeruddin Shah, and others.

The film revolves around the lives of various characters interconnected by the bustling marketplace (bazaar) of Hyderabad. Najma (played by Smita Patil) is a spirited young woman who works as a saleswoman in the bazaar. She catches the eye of Salim (played by Naseeruddin Shah), a wealthy man from a conservative Muslim family, who becomes infatuated with her. However, Najma is already in love with Akhtar (played by Farooq Shaikh), a humble and sincere young man who works in the bazaar.

The story unfolds as Najma navigates the complexities of her relationships with Salim and Akhtar, while also facing societal pressures and expectations. Meanwhile, Salim's sister, Shabnam (played by Supriya Pathak), is in love with Aslam (played by Bharat Kapoor), a poet struggling to make ends meet. Their relationship faces opposition from Salim and their family due to Aslam's financial status.

As the characters' lives intertwine amidst the colorful backdrop of the bazaar, the film explores themes of love, sacrifice, class divides, and the clash between tradition and modernity. With its realistic portrayal of characters and social issues, "Bazaar" remains a poignant and thought-provoking film in Indian cinema.
